Thanks so much for the cone/pod lesson - my id skills are not great, but I did know the difference between the two. What was especially great was the way you displayed them with the succulents for the pix - brought forth mad hybridization fantasies. I am an indiscriminate lover of anything green for wreaths as long as there's something in there that smells like christmas. happpy days.

May, The potting shed smells a lot like Christmas now that we're preparing for the wreath making workshop but it's mostly because of the balsam fir boughs that we bought. - The rest of what we picked on the grounds is subtly scented at best... -kris

I'm coming up to Blithewold next week to wreath away. (New verb) I love to cut my andromeda now with its soft red berried tips, boxwood from our humongeous hedge, and thujopsis, that almost regal evergreen, even more dazzling when you flip to the the underside with its silvery veining. My car will be laden with greens but I can't resist a little magnolia, so furry....and don't forget the holly and the ivy! I think I'll need a U-Haul. xxx Ginny

Ginny, I love the idea of andromeda! You definitely have a plethora to choose from in your garden and your wreaths are always magnificent and extra creative. I'll be doing a lot of "wreathing" (love it!) this week too so if you have any left overs... ! -kris

I love any of the Firs for decorations. We used to scavenge in the woods to find all sorts of things for wreaths.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving.

Thank you! And it sounds like you and Gail are kindred scavengers - and I know I don't have to tell you not to be tempted by beautiful bittersweet! -kris
