  • Leaf gawping

October 23rd, 2009 by Kristin Green

Katsura (Cercidiphyllum japonicum)I’m not crazy about the term “leaf peeping”. Not only is it a little too tweely alliterative but it seems to suggest something furtive and illicit. I’d much rather point and stare openly at the fall. And that’s just what I did on my rounds the last couple of days.

I took 100 pictures between yesterday afternoon and this morning and could have/would have taken more if I didn’t have other work to to get to. I hope that, especially if you’re within 100 miles of here, you’ll come through soon to see all of the leaves I peeped but didn’t include in this post. And if you’re not nearby – or even if you are, I invite you to share a link to your own fall-color gawp-shots!

Kris: I am going out to catch a few more peeps and gawks just as soon as I finish with this work at the desk. Tucker is waiting. Your pics are delightful.

Thanks, Layanee! – I hope you got a good look before all the rain and wind! -kris

Gosh it is so pretty how could anyone work with all that beauty? I can’t get over your highbush blueberry. I mistook it for a dogwood it is so large. Just gorgeous!

Tina, It’s true – sometimes I get a little distracted from the tasks at hand! -kris

    4. Nancy Bond Says:

How absolutely beautiful! That full moon Japanese maple is especially pretty. Such loveliness.

Nancy, It’s been truly beautiful here – and sadly, mere days later, the full moon maple is already way past its peak. -kris

Um… really? That prettiest of all the trees in your collage above… it’s REALLY a highbush blueberry?!

I might just curl up in a little ball right now and die of jealousy! ;)

Oh my gosh, Kim – don’t do that! Just make a mental note to visit someday… -kris
