My S. chaenomeloides 'Mt. Aso' is budding. Is yours going too? I recall it goes around the time your witch hazels are flowering.

Susan, They were just starting to fur up. I expect they'll be looking fiber-optic by now - I've been away from the property for a couple of days but one of them was another summer-ish one... -kris

Soon as I read that your Diana is beginning to bloom I went out to take a look at my Jelena witch hazel and ,sure enough, there are those cheery, coppery yellow tassels glowing in the winter sunshine! Have also seen a few clumps of snowdrops ,an occasional yellow crocus here and there, and a daffodil bravely blooming all alone. Seems quite creepy that it is so warm ,but, like you say, just enjoy the pull toward spring.

Jean, I'm going to have to scout around Bristol's "spring" street for that daffodil! - and I bet more crocus showed faces after that last warm day... -kris
