We've been stealing all the cold. That kniphofia is throwing me for a loop. And I can't get over the Champlain rose - the red against the bronzed leaves is really incredible. Part of me wants to think it's fake - it's too good to be true!

Susan, Champlain is vying for Number One favorite rose in my book ('Morning Has Broken' will have to be demoted to Runner Up) - even in the reals "it's too good to be true!" And today it's snowing on the kniphofias. I don't think they like that... -kris

The weather sure has been crazy this year even for New England. November was really mild after a cold October (we had snow Oct. 25). I am sure we will be paying for the mildness later.

D.F., I'm sure since we had a cool, wet summer we must deserve a mild winter... No? (I want my money back.) -kris

I am cringing to admit that I once planted quite a few tulips on New Year's Day! The soil was soft and easy to dig and I remember the warmth of the sun. No damage done, the tulips were just fine in the spring. Don't think I'll tempt fate again.

Ginny, I'm in excellent company then! But I'd rather not tempt fate again either. I'm just glad I got everything in when I did... (I was still heeling stuff in my own garden last night!) -kris
