Layanee, You always get the first snow (lucky duck)!

and Kim, It really seems crazy to NOT use the leaves! But still I see bags of leaves by the side of the road on trash day... They just don't know what they're missing! The town of Bristol makes compost out of it all though - free for anyone who wants it. (Nevermind that it's full of mysterious garden chemistry, etc - I just wouldn't use it for edibles...)

I'm still giggling about "leaf cleanup on the property must feel about as futile as vacuuming a cat." Although, like Layanee, I must admit that my dog is a bigger shedder. (Good luck trying to vacuum HER, though! lol.)

Beautiful shots, and I must say that I love to hear that a large public garden like yours is so committed to composting and reusing leaves. More people ought to think like that, on all scales.

Vacuum a cat? That sounds like a good idea although the dog is a bigger shedder! LOL at that descriptive phrase! How gratifying to have the shredded pile of leaves. Great golden shots! We had our first snow here today in northern RI!

Stuart, You're so right and the guys live in fear of a skyload of snow falling on top of treeloads of leaves on the lawns. So as the leaves drop, they catch them...

Carol, I actually considered the leaf envy that picture might induce and thought hard about whether to post it! But working the shredder can't be enviable - between the 3 of us, it took a day and a half to get through that pile!
