Is it possible you over-watered? They can rot... I've heard that they can be kept in the dark, down cellar too but that's how I nearly killed one of mine... Val, no secrets here! – We keep them in the cool greenhouse, which can go down into the 40′s, high 30′s and they don’t need much water over winter. Is it possible you over-watered?
