I'm a gardening assassin. The plants have no warning.

Susan, I don't often burst out laughing sitting by myself in the potting shed so thank you for that! -kris

I think you're right; I think plants do listen. At least a bit.
I wish our corkscrew willow would listen because we're thinking of taking it out.
That Ambridge Rose is gorgeous.

Victoria, Maybe the willow is hard of hearing. I think they sometimes are... -kris

interesting read. I try to use this technique with my students ;') at home I have a rose bush that seems to have said, OK just kill me please.

Wayne, Perhaps it's your turn to listen and put the poor thing out of its misery! -kris

I once threatened a vitex tree with removal if it didn't shape up. It didn't, and I was true to my word. Maybe it was just stubborn though. Your roses look great. Sometimes that perfect year just happens for a particular plant. I always rejoice when it happens but (realist that I am) don't count on it being the same way next year.

Pam, We're counting our blessings for sure but definitely holding out hope for another beautiful next year and beyond too! (plus really crossing our fingers that they'll not go downhill too much after blooming!) -kris
